Ivan Chiu

Ivan is a medical student at the University of British Columbia (UBC) and primary care paramedic with BC Emergency Health Services and 12 Field (Vancouver) Ambulance. He was first introduced to event and mass gathering medicine in 2015, which immediately garnered his interest. In particular, he enjoys the challenge of treating the undifferentiated patient in any given environment and resource setting.

In 2019, Ivan was awarded funding via the UBC Summer Student Research Program to investigate the effects of Penthrox™ in the context of out-of-hospital settings. The Penthrox™ - Methoxyflurane | Acute Pain module is part of this project.
