Odyssey's Medical Direction Handbook

Medical Direction for Odyssey Medical Crew | formerly - Odyssey's BLS Medical Direction Portal

Being supported to work to your full scope while on-event is one of the reasons many of our team members sign up to volunteer their time with us. Let’s face it, you have worked hard, participated in didactic and hands-on learning through various educational courses throughout your medical career.

Odyssey’s Medical Direction Program is not another educational course. Think of this portal as your online ‘Handbook’ to our policies and procedures. We know you already know your stuff and we are not here to teach you ‘our way’. Through this handbook you will quickly see that if you are following policies and procedures of the medical field you regularly practice in, you are practicing in good faith, and within your scope of training, you are good to practice to your level of training while on-event with Odyssey.

In this Handbook, you will find links to the most current versions of our policies. You will also find a quiz. This is our way of doing our due diligence to ensure we have the structures in place for you to confidently practice under Odyssey’s Medical Direction coverage. From time to time, we may even add videos or articles that we find interesting and relevant to the work we do.

Here is the list of policies included in this portal:

  • Anaphylaxis & Allergy
  • Bronchospasm and Wheezing
  • Cardiac Arrest Management - BLS Version
  • Chest Pain - Cardiac Sounding
  • Documentation Like a Pro
  • Entonox - Nitrous Oxide | Acute Pain

  • Intravenous Therapy
  • Nausea and Vomiting
  • A Suspected or Confirmed Opioid Overdose
